In workshops like Yoga as Embodied Prayer and How to Meditate, Carol draws from the rich contemplative traditions of Christianity and yoga.

Each workshop is designed for all levels, whether you’ve never taken a yoga class or are a seasoned practitioner. During the day we alternate among:

  • Simple poses and breathing techniques
  • Meditation
  • Lecture and discussion
  • Personal reflection

The basis for discussion is the 2,000 year-old Yoga Sutra. We explore what this ancient text has in common with the writings of the Christian mystics, and how it can enhance the experience of practicing Christians in contemporary society.

"How to Meditate"

Saturday, April 12 & 19

at Loyola Marymount University
University Hall 3002 (Marymount Center)
One LMU Drive
Los Angeles, CA

9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Simplify your life through easily approachable meditation practices that anyone can do in ten minutes a day. We'll explore sitting meditation techniques, plus movement-oriented methods like breathing exercises and walking, drawing from both yoga and Christian meditation. You'll leave the workshop with a sense of what meditation is and what it isn't, and you'll have some techniques you can perform on your own.

This workshop is geared towards beginning meditators of all faith traditions. Wear comfortable clothes and plan to practice without shoes (socks are okay). Chairs and cushions will be provided.
